Before and after school enrichment classes provide students with a dynamic platform for exploring their interests and expanding their horizons beyond the regular curriculum. These classes offer a diverse range of subjects, from arts and sports to STEM catering to a wide spectrum of passions.
All registrations end on January 28, 2025. We won’t accept registrations past this date.
No classes when FCPS schools are closed, late start or released early due to inclement weather. No make‐up classes for absences. Spring Schedule
Morning Classes



Intro to Game Design
Intro to Game Design introduces students to important game design concepts so they may use their creativity and problem-solving skills to create fun, complete and shareable games! The course teaches students important factors they need to consider when creating a game, such as game mechanics, player experience, art, story and how to work within your scope. Via discussions, activities and computer work led by our instructors, students will learn how to make games from beginning to end. At the end of the session, students will leave with their own account information, so they may continue developing games at home and sharing them with friends and family.

Comic Book Illustration
Let students explore the incredible world of Comic Book Illustration and learn to take their creativity to a whole new level! Students will learn about character development, storyboarding, paneling, story design, color theory and how to hone their art style. Instructors will teach students how to create comics using traditional art along with digital software, so they may work comfortably in whichever medium they prefer. By the end of the course, each student will leave with their very own comic book they created in class, along with a strong introduction to digital art processes and comic composition concepts.

Chess Club
Learn chess with Magnus Academy, five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments outside of club time. This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments, a Chesskid Gold membership, and an event with a chess celebrity. All chess supplies provided. All skill levels are welcome.

Group Music Fun
Students will participate in an ensemble music group. They may choose which instrument to play during the session – piano, guitar, violin or drums. Students will learn about the instruments as well as how to play in a music group.

Minecraft Programming
Minecraft Programming teaches students important problem-solving and design skills by using command block and redstone to build spectacular projects with programming logic. This course is a great precursor to understand real circuitry, electronics and electrical theory. This course allows students to gain an understanding of how computers are processing commands as they move on to other computer science studies, and take home their Redstone creations at the end of the course. Coding fundamentals are reinforced by designing and implementing large-scale Minecraft elevators, roller coasters, and more!

Afternoon Classes



Mudskippers Pottery Club
Junior Engineers
Amusement Park Engineering
In this class you’ll create hand-built pinch pots, coil pots and slab pottery from start to finish. You’ll even get a chance to glaze your own pottery. Our materials are professional grade stoneware and get fired in our kiln, making the pieces both beautiful and functional! We will utilize stoneware clay, air hardening clay as well as modeling clay to create a portfolio you’ll cherish. Class will culminate in an end of the year art show giving students a real taste of what real artist life is like. Ready to explore? Let’s get muddy!

Does your little learner love to tinker and create new things, or are they the kind of learner who likes to break things apart to see what’s inside? If so, they’re going to love Snapology’s Foundational Engineering: Machines and Contraptions program! This program gives your student the tools they need to understand mechanical movement and the importance of simple machines. They will see these moving parts upclose as they follow instructions to build various machines and contraptions, then use the models to develop new design ideas, test out physics concepts, and even play games with their partners and classmates. Whether they are the creative-constructive type or prefer the inquisitive-deconstructive way of learning, this program is sure to spark their engineering interests.

We bet your child loves going to amusement parks to experience the variety of fast, dropping, and spinning rides, but have they ever thought about the science that goes into building those rides and the people who are responsible for designing them? In Snapology’s Amusement Park Engineering class, students will become engineers of their own amusement park rides and will learn the core physics and engineering concepts used to make a ride thrilling!

Taylor Swift Club
Kids perform new material every season in this 10-week class by Moonlit Wings! Young actors explore short scenes inspired by popular stories with comedy, drama, musicals and hilarious improv games. Sharpen speech, stage presence, and teamwork through theatre. Parents are invited to a mini-performance during the final class. Drama Club is where creative kids make lasting friendships and keep the fun going, season after season!

Ultimate Dance Fitness
Pokémon Club
Basketball Program
Kids in Motion K-5 students will dance, jump, run, and play the whole hour! Kids follow along with the teacher to songs and dances, play games that include limbo sticks, balloons, freeze dance, dancing 4 corners, dancing hot potato, follow the leader, and more! This is a dance fitness class using kid friendly songs, choreography, and dance games. This class helps children making friends, get active after school, and love dance fitness!

Have you ever wanted to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game? Well, you’re in luck, because Fairhill now has its own Pokémon club! Join Mr. Ryan and Mr. Sved as they teach you everything you need to know about Pokémon. It’s time to build your deck, battle your friends, and become a Pokémon master! Do you have what it takes?”

Tabletop Games Club
We play a unique tabletop adventure game that is similar to D&D! Students will be creating characters then working together on an adventure. Each week, the players will be using their skills and strategy to overcome obstacles and progress through the story. Tabletop Games Club is a great place for improv, collaboration, and creativity. Maximum 6 spaces per class.

Soccer Club
In this 8-week program, students will learn new skills and make new friends in a safe and encouraging environment with professional, friendly coaches.

Running Club
Kids in Motion Run Club is for boys and girls in grades K-5 who come out to run for fun and fitness! Throughout the class, coaches engage the kids in super fun running activities, such as sharks and minnows, tag games, relay races, and team racing competitions. We find that kids run so much more when we include running games or running competitions throughout the hour. Students will also run laps and track their distance or number of laps by picking up a popsicle stick at the completion of each lap and work toward running longer distances throughout the session.

Art Club with Ms. Mingo
Each week we will learn how to draw different subjects.

Girls on the Run
Meeting in small teams, trained volunteer coaches inspire girls to build confidence through interactive lessons and physical activities.
